Cookies and storage
Pick a Pressie sets no cookies, and nothing on it tracks you between visits or across sites.
What the site stores on your device
To make the swipe deck work, Pick a Pressie keeps these in your browser's own storage on this device. None is a cookie and none is sent to us:
- Your current deck: who it is for, the budget, occasion and interests you picked, the cards you have swiped and your answers, and your shortlist. It is there so you can close the page and carry on later.
- A note that you have seen the swipe hint, so it does not come back.
- The cards you have already swiped, by listing number or idea name, so a new deck shows you fresh ones first. Up to the last 3,000.
- For the visit only, in session storage: the two-letter code of the country you connect from, so the page asks once. Closing the tab removes it.
"Start a new deck" removes the deck. Clearing your browser's site data for pickapressie.com removes all of it.
The law
UK rules (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) require consent before storing anything on your device that is not strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Each item above is stored because you started a deck, or, for the country code, only for the visit, to show you shops you can buy from. If we ever add something optional, it will be off until you turn it on, and this page will say what it is.
